Main training field:
A shooting field is available for various exercises such as shooting, radio exercises, wildlife observations with decoys and use of distress calls. It is located at a distance of 15 minutes from Genève Aéroport. Covering an area of approximately 7.5 hectares with a maximum length of 380 m, the place allows the safe training of firearm use. A shooting butt, paved roads and natural environments will help simulate real intervention situations in the field of wildlife hazard prevention. Candidates will for example be able to drive the intervention vehicle while communicating with the control tower specifically constructed for the course, in order to be confronted with situations where the birds present a hazard to air traffic. They will then have to decide what type of intervention to make, how to ensure the safety of other users while enforcing the aeronautical phraseology.
Directly located on the grounds of Genève Aéroport, the aircraft parking P48 will be occasionally used by groups of students to practice phraseology, apron driving, sound or laser wildlife dispersal. It is however not possible to use pyrotechnics at this location.
